Jennifer E. McKay

Jennifer E. McKay is Counsel in Dentons' Intellectual Property group, specializing in Intellectual Property Law. She has significant experience managing both contentious and non‑contentious intellectual property matters, including registration, licensing, opposition, availability opinions, transfers, domain names, summary cancellation proceedings, and litigation. Her clients range from start‑ups and SMEs to Fortune 500 companies across fintech, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, banking, and energy sectors.

Jennifer's professional background includes a term as Assistant Director of the Canadian Trademarks Office, where she was actively involved in intellectual property policy and practice development. She was also a Hearing Officer on the Trademarks Opposition Board, assisted with the training of Examiners at the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, and represented Canada at WIPO meetings on domain names and trademark licensing. She was an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law for a number of years.

She holds an LL.B from the University of Moncton (1991) and a B.Sc from St. Francis Xavier University (1988).
