Juliet Smith

Juliet Smith is a Partner and national co-leader of the Media, Entertainment and Sports law group at Dentons in Vancouver, focusing on film, television and new media production and financing. She advises Canadian and US banking institutions, Hollywood Studios and Canadian independent production companies.

She has extensive experience advising on the production, financing and distribution of domestic and international film and television productions, including advising three Canadian banking institutions on interim financing of film and television productions, advising major Hollywood studios on Canadian and provincial production services tax credits, and advising on marketing cost transactions involving over CA$200 million. She also advises on production services agreements, international co-productions and production financing structures.

Juliet holds an LL.B from the University of Victoria (1991) and a B.A. from Simon Fraser University (1988).

She is recognized by Chambers Canada, The Legal 500 Canada, The Best Lawyers in Canada and The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for Entertainment Law. She has been named "Lawyer of the Year" for Entertainment Law in Vancouver multiple times (2011, 2017, 2019, 2023 and 2025) and received a 2015 Daytime Emmy as co-executive producer of R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour. She serves on the board of Mindset Media Society.
