Mira Gauvin

Mira Gauvin is a Partner in the Corporate Group, based in the Montréal office, practicing in the firm's Environmental Law practice. She is a member of the Environment and Natural Resources and Climate Change Strategies groups, advising clients in all industrial sectors including mining, manufacturing, chemicals, oil and gas, renewable energies, pulp and paper, agro-food, marine terminals, transportation, and waste management.

Ms. Gauvin's practice comprises analyzing the impacts of jurisprudential and legislative developments, advising on compliance with environmental laws, cap-and-trade regulations, environmental assessment and permitting, land rehabilitation and remediation projects, and the implementation and closure of industrial sites. She negotiates and drafts environmental contractual clauses of commercial transactions and land rehabilitation agreements, and supervises environmental due diligence of business transactions. She has advised the Montréal Port Authority on securing CA$1.16 billion in financing from the Canada Infrastructure Bank for the Contrecœur container terminal expansion project.

She holds an LLB/BCL from McGill University (1999), an M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences from UQÀM (1992), and a B.Sc. in Biology from McGill University (1989), and has completed Osgoode Certificates in ESG, Climate Risk & The Law and Fundamentals of Indigenous Peoples and Canadian Law. She has been recognized by Chambers Canada and Chambers Global in Environment, The Best Lawyers in Canada in Environmental Law and Natural Resources Law, The Legal 500 Canada in Environment, and the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory in Environmental Law, Indigenous Law, and Mining. She is Past Chair of the CBA's National Environment, Energy and Resources Law Section and a former Programs Vice-Chair of the ABA SEER's International Environmental and Resources Law Committee.
