Raphael Tachie

Raphael Tachie is a Partner in the Trusts, Estates and Wealth Preservation group at Dentons, based in Vancouver, specializing in Estate Planning. He is also a member of the Dentons Family Office and High Net Worth sector group, providing cross‑practice services to family offices and high‑net‑worth individuals. He advises high‑net‑worth individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and business owners on estate and trust planning, business succession planning, incapacity matters, and planned charitable giving.

Raphael advises executors, trustees, and other fiduciaries on estate and trust administration, including probate, fiduciary duties, and post‑mortem planning. He works extensively with financial institutions and trust companies on estates and trusts, life and health insurance, registered and non‑registered investments, and high‑net‑worth advisory services. Notable matters include advising a large financial institution on the development and launch of a high‑net‑worth offering; advising a deposit‑holding institution on custodial agreements with cryptocurrency exchange platforms; advising a large trust company on pre‑paid funeral services and custodial agreements; and advising a First Nations Band on establishing a society and trust to hold lands for cultural and historical preservation. He also handles complex estate planning involving multi‑jurisdictional family members and assets, and advises on the implementation of family trusts, alter ego trusts, and joint partner trusts.

Raphael holds an LL.B from the University of Victoria (2009), an M.B.A. from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University (2016), and a B.A. in Criminology and Political Science from Simon Fraser University (2005). He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2010 and the British Columbia Bar in 2011.

He is the immediate past president of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers and is recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada in Trusts and Estates (2024).
