Yulia Konarski

Yulia Konarski is a Senior Associate in the Regulatory group at Dentons in Ottawa, with a practice focused on consumer product regulatory and marketing and advertising law. She regularly advises clients on obligations relating to importing, selling, marketing, and advertising regulated products into Canada, including food, drugs, natural health products, cosmetics, medical devices, tobacco, cannabis, alcohol, and general consumer products. She also has significant expertise in environmental regulations impacting the consumer product industry, including those related to plastics and regulated substances under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act.

Her practice covers packaging and labelling requirements, marketing and advertising compliance, product safety standards, product licensing, site licensing, and environmental compliance. She advises multinational consumer product manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retail platforms on compliance with Canadian regulatory frameworks, including the Food and Drugs Act, the Safe Food for Canadians Act, and the Consumer Product Safety Act. She also assists clients on emerging issues such as greenwashing claims, software as a medical device, and the right to repair.

Prior to her current role, she gained extensive experience in intellectual property law with a focus on pharmaceutical patent litigation. She holds a BSc in Biopharmaceutical Science (2011) and an MSc in Microbiology and Immunology (2013) from the University of Ottawa, and a JD from Queen's University (2016). She has authored numerous articles on consumer product regulatory trends and environmental compliance.
