Alexis Barr-Gusa

Alexis Barr-Gusa is a Partner at Dentons, practicing in the Banking and Finance and Construction, Infrastructure and Public Private Partnerships (PPP) groups in Edmonton, specializing in Infrastructure Law. She advises on project development and construction projects, assisting financial institutions, owners, developers, and contractors in commercial real estate development, domestic and international mining, power (including renewable energy), transmission, and pipeline projects.

Alexis acts for lenders and borrowers on complex financing structures, including construction financings, asset‑based lending, acquisition financings, and real estate financings. Notable matters include advising Dow Chemical Canada ULC on its US$6.5 billion Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero investment to build the world's first net‑zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions integrated ethylene cracker and derivatives facility; advising e‑STORAGE on major battery energy storage projects including Skyview 2 (Ontario's largest battery storage project to date), Elora and Hedley projects, and projects in Nova Scotia totaling 150 MW / 705 MWh; advising a client on a negotiated battery supply agreement for up to 2.6GW of storage with a value of CA$800 million; advising the Trans Mountain Expansion Project on EPC contract negotiations; and advising on multi‑billion dollar electric transmission infrastructure, petrochemical facilities, and gold and silver mines in British Columbia and Nunavut.

Alexis holds a J.D. from the University of Windsor (2010) and a B.A. in Sociology and Archeology from the University of Alberta (2007). She was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2011.

She has been recognised in The Legal 500 Canada (Construction), the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as a Leading Lawyer to Watch in Construction Law, and was named to 40 Under 40 in Canadian Construction.
