Paul E. Ryzuk M.Eng., P.Eng.

Paul E. Ryzuk, M.Eng., P.Eng. is a Partner at Dentons, practicing in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Infrastructure and PPP, and Construction groups, specializing in Infrastructure Law. His unique professional background combines legal and technical expertise as both a lawyer and a professional engineer, equipping him to provide tailored advice on complex construction matters with large document productions in arbitration and court proceedings.

Paul advises owners, developers, contractors, and suppliers through a variety of disputes, including delay claims, breach of contract, negligence, faulty design work, differing site conditions, professional liability, warranty claims, and builders' liens. Notable matters include acting as lead counsel in the defense of a claim for an industrial explosion exceeding CA$250 million; successfully conducting a six‑week arbitration against a municipal owner for productivity impacts and site extension costs; advising on a CA$125 million defense of an engineering company against theft allegations; and defending a CA$30 million claim against an engineering company concerning a failed engineered embankment.

Prior to pursuing law, Paul worked as a geotechnical engineer in British Columbia on commercial and infrastructure projects. He holds an LL.B., an M.Eng. (geotechnical), and a B.Sc. in civil engineering (with distinction) from the University of Alberta (2002, 2003, 2006). He was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2007, and is also admitted in British Columbia (2024) and the Northwest Territories (2023).
