Daniel Safi

Daniel Safi is a Senior Associate in Dentons' Toronto Tax group, advising on all aspects of domestic and international tax law, including public and private M&A, debt restructurings, financing, corporate reorganizations, private equity and capital markets.

He has advised major Canadian and international clients on a wide range of complex transactions, including representing StackAdapt on its US$235 million financing led by Teachers' Venture Growth; advising Vermilion Energy on its CA$1.075 billion acquisition of Westbrick Energy; advising Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. on the separation of its studios business from Starz Entertainment; advising Royal Bank of Canada on its CA$13.5 billion acquisition of HSBC Bank of Canada; and acting for Summit Partners in a US$122 million growth investment in Stay22. He also advised the founders of Adastra Group SE on the sale of a majority stake to Carlyle and represented BDO Canada LLP in its sale of 21 offices to MNP LLP.

Daniel holds an LL.M. in Tax Law from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University (2019) and an LL.B and J.D. from Université de Sherbrooke (2016).

He is recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada – Ones to Watch for Tax Law and is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the International Fiscal Association.
