Henry J. Chang

Henry J. Chang is a Senior Partner in the Employment and Labour group at Dentons, based in the Toronto office, practicing in Immigration Law. He focuses on Canada–United States business immigration and complex citizenship matters, with a recognized authority in E-1 treaty trader and E-2 treaty investor visas, L-1 intra-company transferee status, TN professional status under USMCA, and Canadian work permits under Canada's free trade agreements.

Mr. Chang has authored the E-1/E-2 chapter in the Annual Conference Handbook of the American Immigration Lawyers Association each year for over a decade. His work has been published in LexisNexis' Immigration Law & Procedure, which has been cited in over 300 decisions across U.S. courts, including appellate courts and the U.S. Supreme Court. He also has a specialized practice representing clients in complex Canadian citizenship-by-descent claims, including those involving "Lost Canadians" under recent legislative reforms.

He holds a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School (1990) and was admitted to the practice of law in the State of California and the Province of Ontario in 1992. He is certified as a specialist in immigration law by the Law Society of Ontario.
