Joe Sebestyen

Joe Sebestyen is a Counsel in Dentons' Energy Regulatory group and a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group in Vancouver, with more than 25 years of experience in corporate, private and public practice.

He assists major oil and gas companies through all stages of the regulatory process, including representation before the National Energy Board, the British Columbia Utilities Commission and the Alberta Energy Regulator. He has extensive experience conducting civil litigation at both the trial and appellate levels, successfully defending legal challenges to major project approvals and conducting complex multi-billion dollar Aboriginal rights, title and duty to consult claims. He also advises clients on project development, joint ventures, Indigenous ownership agreements, Impact Benefit Agreements, commercial leases and land tenure agreements. Prior to joining Dentons, he worked as senior in-house counsel with a major North American energy infrastructure company, leading the development of major energy infrastructure projects.

Joe holds an LL.B from the University of Saskatchewan (1991) and a B.A. (with Great Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan (1988).
