Mai Rempel is a Counsel in Dentons' Energy and Regulatory groups in Vancouver, with extensive expertise in regulatory, energy, infrastructure, Aboriginal, environmental and property law, advising clients on oil and gas production and export facilities, port and pipeline infrastructure, hydro-electric generating facilities and transmission lines, as well as solar and wind projects.
She has served as Lead Project Counsel on high-profile projects including the CA$40 billion LNG Canada liquefied gas project, the CA$28 billion Aurora LNG project, and the CA$1.35 billion Ridley Island Energy Export Facility. She advised AltaGas on the first liquefied petroleum gas export facility in Canada (RIPET), the first project to receive Section 67 Canadian Environmental Assessment Act approval. She also advised Bank of Montreal on a CA$350 million loan facility for the CA$1 billion acquisition of Clearwater Seafoods by a joint venture of Premium Brand Holdings and several Mi'kmaq Nations. Prior to joining Dentons, she managed a Regulatory and Lands Legal Department at a major energy Crown Corporation and served as Lead Negotiator representing the province in tri‑partite treaty negotiations and bilateral negotiations with Indigenous Nations.
