Keith R. Hennel

Keith R. Hennel is a Partner at Dentons and serves as chair of Dentons’ Edmonton Tax group, focusing on Tax Advisory Law. His practice focuses primarily on corporate reorganisations, succession planning and taxation, and his client roster ranges from local owner-managed businesses and start-ups to large multinational organisations.

Keith advises high-net-worth individuals in Alberta on tax planning, succession planning and estate planning, and works closely with clients on income tax, GST/HST and dispute resolution matters. He also assists clients with mergers and acquisitions, typically advising on the sale or purchase of a business and on planning and implementing pre-closing restructuring transactions.

As a native Albertan, he is familiar with the province’s business and legal communities and has longstanding ties to the farming and oil and gas sectors. His representative experience includes advising the Edmonton Elks Football Club on the sale of substantially all of its assets and Rexall Health on the sale of a large portion of its independent banner and franchise business to McKesson Corporation.

Keith is recognised in The Best Lawyers in Canada for Tax Law. He holds an LLB (with Distinction) and a B.Sc. (with Distinction) from the University of Alberta (2008, 2000), and is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
