Pamela Chan Ebejer

Pamela Chan Ebejer is a Partner in the Employment, Labour and Pensions group at Dentons, based in the Toronto office, practicing in Pension Law. She provides strategic and legal advice to plan sponsors and administrators on all aspects of defined benefit and defined contribution plans, including design and amendment, fiduciary responsibilities, governance, funding, and regulatory compliance. She also counsels clients on pension plan wind-ups, asset transfers, de-risking strategies, buy-in and buy-out annuities, executive compensation, and supplementary retirement plans.

Ms. Chan Ebejer has advised multiple employers on defined benefit pension de-risking initiatives through annuity buy-in and buy-out transactions, transferring over $500 million of liabilities to Canadian insurers. She has also advised on the governance of billions of dollars of pension assets and liabilities, and on pension and benefit matters in corporate transactions including the acquisitions by Motorola Solutions of Rave Mobile Safety and Futurecom Systems Group, the sale of the Premier Hockey Federation to The Mark Walter Group and Billie Jean King Enterprises, and APM Global Holdings' acquisition of Equus Workforce Solutions in Canada. In her employment practice, she represents employers in wrongful dismissal litigation, labour arbitrations, human rights applications, and Canada Labour Code unjust dismissal adjudications.

Pam holds a J.D. from the University of Ottawa (2012), an M.A. from the University of Toronto (2009), and a B.A. (Honours) from the University of Toronto (2007). She has completed the Osgoode Certificate in Pension Law and serves as an instructor for the Canadian Pension Certificate Program. She has been recognized by The Legal 500 Canada in Labour and Employment and Pensions, and is an independently rated Stand-out Lawyer by Thomson Reuters.
