Sara E. Hart, KC

Sara E. Hart, KC is a Partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group of Dentons’ Edmonton office and co-leads the National Professional Liability subgroup, focusing on Insurance Law. Her practice focuses on personal injury, insurance, and corporate and commercial litigation, including construction and product liability litigation.

She represents individuals, insurers, and corporations engaged in various types of civil litigation disputes before all levels of Court in Alberta as well as before alternative dispute forums. Her insurance litigation experience includes first party claims, coverage disputes, subrogation matters, priority claims, and SEF 44 claims and defences.

Her representative experience includes successfully defending a North American railway in a proposed class action filed in Alberta (2023 ABCA 150), acting in serious medical malpractice litigation, and advising and successfully preparing materials in response to a leave to appeal application before the Supreme Court of Canada in Toews v. First Choice.

Sara is recognised in The Best Lawyers in Canada for Corporate and Commercial Litigation and Insurance Law, and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in April 2022. She holds an LLB from the University of Western Ontario (1998) and a B.A. from Queen’s University (1995), and is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Edmonton Bar Association.
