Victoria Merritt

Victoria Merritt is a Senior Associate in the Employment and Labour group at Dentons in Vancouver, specializing in Employment Law. She advises clients on managing all aspects of employment matters, providing practical advice with a focus on risk management and early conflict resolution.

Victoria has appeared in all levels up to the Supreme Court of Canada. She successfully defended a for‑cause dismissal as co‑counsel at the BC Supreme Court on behalf of a municipality in Golob v City of Fort St John, and has advised various professional regulatory bodies on disciplinary and regulatory issues, including representation at administrative hearings. Her background also includes experience in construction law, administrative law, and municipal law. She regularly writes on employment law topics, including workplace investigations, pay transparency, dependent contractor status, and employee privacy.

Victoria holds a J.D. from the University of Victoria (2016) and a B.A. (Hons) from the University of Alberta (2013). She was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 2017 and is a volunteer lawyer with Access Pro Bono.
