Adam S. Goodman

Adam S. Goodman is a Partner and co-chair of Dentons' Competition and Foreign Investment Review group, based in Toronto. His practice focuses on Competition Law, including class action defence, cartel defence, and merger clearance under the Competition Act and the Investment Canada Act.

Adam has represented clients at all levels of Ontario and Federal courts. His experience includes representing clients participating in Canada's Immunity and Leniency programs, leading internal investigations, and representing clients in contentious public inquiries.

Active in several bar associations, Adam holds leadership positions in the International Bar Association (IBA) and the American Bar Association (ABA). He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Distribution and Franchising Committee of the ABA Section of Antitrust Law and Vice-Chair of the IBA Rule of Law Forum. He has also served as a part-time and visiting faculty member at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, and regularly speaks, teaches and writes on competition law, foreign investment law and litigation topics.

His experience includes advising Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. on the launch of Lionsgate Studios Corp. on the NASDAQ; advising Transport Canada in the Government of Canada's public interest assessment process regarding the acquisition of Sunwing Vacations and Sunwing Airlines by WestJet Airlines Ltd.; acting as Canadian competition law counsel to Teledyne regarding its USD $8.2 billion acquisition of FLIR Systems, Inc.; advising Dow Inc. on the sale of its rail infrastructure assets at six major North American sites to Watco Companies, LLC for US$315 million; and acting as counsel to a multinational financial institution in proposed class proceedings related to allegations of manipulation in global foreign exchange, gold and silver markets. He also represented parties in the Ipperwash, Air India and Mississauga public inquiries.

Adam holds a BCL and an LLB from McGill University, an MA from Carleton University and a BA from McGill University.
