Bennett Wong

Bennett Wong is a Partner in the Corporate group and leader of the Asia Desk in Dentons' Calgary office, focusing on corporate, capital markets, M&A and cross-border transactions. He is formerly the National Lead for the Securities and Corporate Finance group.

He has extensive experience in domestic and cross-border M&A (public and private, negotiated and unsolicited/hostile), spin-offs, going private transactions, securities offerings, IPOs, stock exchange listings, project financings, private equity, joint ventures, proxy fights, and corporate governance matters. Notable matters include advising Dow Chemical Canada on its US$6.5 billion Path2Zero investment, advising the Special Committee of Inter Pipeline Ltd. in response to an unsolicited takeover bid resulting in a CA$15 billion enterprise-value acquisition, and advising Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. on the launch of Lionsgate Studios Corp. on the NASDAQ with a US$350 million capital raise. His practice spans oil and gas, mining, agribusiness, life sciences, technology and real estate sectors.

Bennett holds a J.D. from Western New England University School of Law (1999), an LL.M. from York University, Osgoode Hall Law School (2008), and is NCA-certified in Canada. He has also completed the Canadian Securities Course.

He was the recipient of Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022 in recognition of his contributions to the community and the province of Alberta. He is recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada, The Legal 500 Canada and The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory in corporate law, securities law, M&A and energy law.
