Brandon Barnes Trickett

Brandon Barnes Trickett is a Partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Regulatory and Public Policy groups at Dentons, focusing on Administrative Law. His practice centres on administrative and public law matters and appellate litigation, notably in the financial services, securities, communications, and public security sectors.

He has significant experience with constitutional questions, indigenous law, and issues of state liability, and has acted as leading counsel in trials, judicial reviews, and appeals at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He also advises public sector entities and private enterprise on compliance matters, particularly money laundering, corruption, trading conduct, and fiscal integrity.

His representative work includes advising Spotify AB in a judicial-review challenge to the CRTC’s “base contribution” regime, which was named one of Lexpert’s Top 10 Business Decisions of 2024/2025, and acting in R v. Korduner before the Supreme Court of Canada on constitutional protections against compelled speech.

Brandon has been recognised by Lexpert, the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, and Benchmark Litigation, and received the Lexpert Rising Stars Award: Leading Lawyers Under 40 in 2021. He holds an MA (Cantab) in Law from the University of Cambridge (2003) and is fluent in French and English.
