Sean Stephenson

Sean Stephenson is a Partner in Dentons' Regulatory group in Toronto, focusing on international trade and sanctions, government contracts, investment arbitration, and public international law.

He advises on a broad range of trade and regulatory matters, including WTO law, free trade agreements, antidumping and countervailing duties, tariffs, import and export controls, sanctions, and customs. He has acted as counsel in trade and investment matters before arbitral tribunals, federal boards and departments, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal. He also frequently advises on government contracting and procurement challenges under Canada's free trade agreements, and on ESG and business and human rights issues, including modern slavery and forced labour compliance.

Sean holds an LL.M. from University College London and JD and LL.L degrees from the University of Ottawa. He is the current Past Chair of the Canadian Bar Association's National Section of International Law.

He is recognized by Chambers Canada and The Legal 500 Canada for International Trade and Public Procurement, and by The Best Lawyers in Canada for International Trade and Finance Law.
