Chantal Sylvestre

Chantal Sylvestre is a Partner and lead of Dentons' Real Estate Group in Montréal, working with a team of lawyers and notaries across the Quebec real estate industry. With close to 30 years of experience, she advises on all aspects of real estate law, combining her expertise as a lawyer and her experience as a former Quebec notary.

She represents a diverse client base including developers, private and public investors, retailers and financial institutions on complex real estate transactions. Her expertise extends to large-scale property development, including the development, acquisition, sale, financing and leasing of commercial, office, multi-residential and industrial properties. Her training as both a notary and lawyer enables her to intervene at all stages of real estate projects, from due diligence and holding structure establishment to drafting and negotiating contractual and transactional arrangements with co-contractors and public authorities.

Chantal holds an LL.B (1995) and an LL.M. (1996) from the Université de Montréal. She is a member of the Québec Bar and the Law Society of Ontario, and was a member of the Chambre des notaires du Québec from 1996 to 2001.

She is recognized by Chambers Canada, The Legal 500 Canada and The Best Lawyers in Canada for Real Estate Law, and has been named by Première en Affaires magazine as one of the most influential women in commercial real estate. She is a lecturer at the Québec Bar School since 2005 and sits on the board of directors of the Fondation de l'IRCM in Montreal.
