Danny Wakeling

Danny Wakeling is a Partner at Dentons and Co-Leader of the national Mergers and Acquisitions group in Canada, specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions. His practice focuses on broad‑based transactional work with an emphasis on M&A, capital markets, and corporate finance, representing a range of public and private companies in share and asset transactions, strategic investments, and capital raising.

Danny has advised on numerous significant transactions, including representing Edmonton Elks Football Club on the sale of substantially all of its assets, advising Bunzl Canada Inc. on multiple acquisitions including Snelling Paper & Sanitation, Pinnacle Paper & Sanitation, and PackPro Systems, and advising Peninsula Capital Partners on the purchase of Peak Integrated Solutions and TGOB Enterprises, and the sale of Herbers Autobody Repair. He also advised Dynamic Risk Assessment Systems Inc. on its sale to Eddyfi NDT Inc., Cougar Drilling Solutions Inc. on its sale to TAQA Drilling Solutions, and a TSX‑listed biotechnology company on its $19 million sale to a TSX‑listed cannabis company. He has also acted for a leading Canadian newspaper publisher on a $305 million acquisition and for a large coal company on a US$200 million note offering. During the fall of 2016, he was seconded to the Office of Mergers and Acquisitions at the Ontario Securities Commission.

He holds a J.D. from Queen's University (2012) and a Bachelor of Commerce (with Distinction) from the University of Alberta (2009). He is admitted to practice in Ontario (2013) and Alberta (2019).
