Peter Allegretto

Peter Allegretto is Counsel in Dentons' Corporate group, specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions. He provides strategic advice on corporate and securities law, including M&A, securities transactions, and corporate governance, with extensive experience from both private practice and in‑house roles.

Peter has deep expertise in complex cross‑border and international M&A across the energy, mining, financial, and utilities sectors. Notable matters include advising Veren Inc. / Crescent Point Energy Corp. on its CA$15 billion arrangement with Whitecap, its CA$2.52 billion acquisition from Hammerhead Resources, and its CA$1.7 billion acquisition from Spartan Delta. He also advised Talisman Energy Inc. on its CA$16.5 billion acquisition by Repsol (the second largest M&A transaction in Canada in 2015), and Cenovus Energy Inc. on a CA$3 billion bought deal equity offering. He has also advised on numerous equity and debt offerings, IPOs, and corporate governance matters.

Peter holds a J.D. and a B.Com from the University of Toronto (2008, 2005). He is admitted to practice in Alberta and has significant experience advising boards and special committees on shareholder activism and strategic transactions.
