Rani L. Berg

Rani Berg is a Partner in Dentons' Corporate and Banking and Finance groups in Edmonton, focusing on financial services and general commercial matters. She represents a diverse range of institutional and corporate clients in commercial financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, real property transactions, lease negotiations and equipment leasing and finance.

Her practice emphasizes lending transactions, assisting both borrowers and lenders with cash flow and acquisition financings, asset-based lending, loan syndications, construction financing, intercreditor matters and cross-border transactions. Notable matters include advising Bank of Montreal on credit facilities to mortgage investment corporations ranging from CA$25 million to CA$150 million, advising Alberta Broadband Networks on syndicated project financing for greenfield fibre optic networks, advising a borrower group on a CA$534 million secured syndicated Canadian and US operating facility, and acting for Rexall Health on its CA$3 billion sale to McKesson Corporation. She also advises on asset and share purchase transactions, corporate governance and regulatory issues, and drafts and negotiates shareholder agreements, partnership agreements and leases.

Rani holds a J.D. (2015) and a B.Comm. (with Distinction) (2012) from the University of Alberta.

She is recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada for Banking and Finance Law and Real Estate Law, and by The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for Banking & Financial Institutions. She serves as a Director of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Northern Alberta and has volunteered with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre.
