Chase Irwin

Chase Irwin is the Managing Partner of Dentons Canada's Ottawa office and a member of the Firm's National Management Committee. He is also a Partner in the Corporate, Securities and Co-Lead of Dentons' Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies practice groups.

His practice focuses primarily on corporate law and transactional matters in the technology sector, including corporate finance and venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, private placements, and a broad range of securities, commercial and business law matters, with an emphasis on emerging growth companies. He has significant industry experience in the technology and venture capital sectors, and regularly advises high-growth, knowledge-based and emerging technology companies, as well as the venture capital funds and investors that finance them, in all stages of growth through to exit, with a particular emphasis on venture financing, capital raising and exit strategies.

As Co-Leader of the Dentons Canada Startup Program and Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies group, he advises founders, entrepreneurs and companies at every stage of startup company formation and growth. He is recognized by Chambers Canada as a leading lawyer for Startups & Emerging Companies, with clients describing him as "extremely responsive" with "a wealth of experience" and "an excellent combination of technical and business skills." He is also recognized by The Legal 500 Canada for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, and by The Best Lawyers in Canada for Technology Law.

He holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Guelph (2006) and a JD from the University of Ottawa (2010). He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association. He is a Vetted Advisor at Graphite Ventures, a Trusted Expert and Mentor at L-SPARK Accelerator, and serves as a Director and Corporate Secretary at Community Veterinary Outreach.
