Julien Bourgeois

Julien Bourgeois is a Partner in Dentons' Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies group and is the Ottawa leader of the Private Equity group, focusing on corporate and securities law with a particular emphasis on venture capital fund formations, venture capital investments, emerging companies, and private mergers and acquisitions.

He advises on all aspects of fund formation and ongoing maintenance, and serves as a trusted advisor to venture capital funds, angel and institutional investors, and emerging growth companies. Notable transactions include advising on KOHO's CA$130 million financing round, acting for the lead investor in ApplyBoard's CA$100 million Series C, advising on Tehama's US$10 million Class A financing, and acting for Endy in its CA$89 million acquisition by Sleep Country Canada. He also has extensive experience advising on cross-border acquisitions, asset and share sales, and corporate reorganizations.

Julien holds an MBA and a J.D. from the University of Ottawa (2013) and a BBA from the Université de Moncton (2009).

He is recognised by Chambers Canada for Start-ups & Emerging Companies, by The Legal 500 Canada for Capital Markets and Technology, and by The Best Lawyers in Canada for Corporate Law. He is a recipient of the Ottawa Business Journal "Forty under 40" award.
