Dragann Mallette

Dragann Mallette is a Senior Associate in the Tax group at Dentons' Montréal office, specialising in Tax Advisory Law. He focuses on complex indirect tax matters, including GST/HST, QST and other federal and provincial indirect tax regimes, advising public and private corporations, financial institutions, First Nations communities, Crown corporations and not-for-profit organisations.

Dragann assists with corporate reorganisations, transactional planning, due diligence, compliance reviews and tax recovery, and frequently supports clients in audits and disputes with tax authorities. He also advises on tax issues in insolvency and restructuring proceedings, real estate and energy-sector projects, investment funds and private equity matters, as well as emerging sectors such as carbon trading, crypto assets and digital transactions. Notable matters include advising Vermilion Energy on its CA$1.075 billion acquisition of Westbrick Energy, acting as Canadian counsel to KPS Capital Partners on its US$3.45 billion acquisition of Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, and advising Howden on its acquisition of Compressor Products International.

Dragann holds an LL.B. from the Université de Sherbrooke (2016) and an LL.M. Tax from HEC Montréal (2019). He is a member of the Québec Bar, the Young Bar of Montréal, the Association de planification fiscale et financière and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
