Me Richard Gauthier

Me Richard Gauthier is a Notary in the firm's Tax Advisory Law practice, based in the Montréal office. He focuses on tax planning for both public and private companies and individuals, advising on corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, private and public financings, and the use of corporate losses.

Mr. Gauthier specializes in offshore financing, pre-sale and pre-acquisition tax planning, succession planning, and public-private partnership structuring. He has advised on significant transactions including Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines on its CA$4.9 billion acquisition by Cliffs Natural Resources, Boralex Inc. on its CA$226.5 million take-over bid and a CA$109.25 million convertible debenture offering, and Enovum Data Centers on its sale to Bit Digital for approximately CA$62.8 million. He also represented the selling shareholders of Groupe Stavibel in its acquisition by SNC-Lavalin.

Richard holds an LLL from the University of Ottawa (1988), a DDN from the University of Ottawa (1989), and an MFisc from the Université de Sherbrooke (1990). He is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a member of the Chambre des notaires du Québec and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
