Kimberly Burns

Kimberly Burns is a Partner and Vancouver M&A lead at Dentons, specialising in Mergers and Acquisitions. She advises clients across public and private M&A, corporate counsel advisory, and corporate governance, helping clients navigate legal complexity with optimal business results.

Kimberly has decades of experience across transactions of all deal sizes, including advising Lionsgate Studios on its separation from Starz Entertainment and its business combination with Screaming Eagle Acquisition Corp., raising US$350 million, and advising Brex, Inc. on its US$5.15 billion 2026 merger with Capital One. She has also advised on the acquisition of Entertainment One Ltd. and 3 Arts Entertainment for Lionsgate, the sale of a global media and VFX technology business, and cross‑border mergers involving cannabis, aviation, agriculture and health and fitness franchise clients. She acts as external Canadian general counsel to a range of businesses, including Expedia Group and Brex Inc., and advises boards and executive teams on governance, proxy fights and shareholder rights plans.

Kimberly holds a J.D. from The University of British Columbia (2004). She is a member of the Dentons Canada Region Board and its Governance Committee.
