Marie-Hélène Dufour

Marie-Hélène Dufour is Counsel in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group of Dentons' Montréal office, specialising in Dispute Resolution. She practices in civil and commercial litigation with a focus on construction and infrastructure law, representing general and specialized contractors, project owners, suppliers and manufacturers.

Marie-Hélène counsels clients on major construction projects, from dispute prevention through the review of tender documents and construction contracts, to the management of disputes and litigation arising from major infrastructure projects, including representation before arbitral and judicial courts. She has advised Aéroports de Montréal on disputes following renovations to the cross‑border departure area, and has represented clients in connection with the CHUM, MUHC and CHU Sainte‑Justine hospital modernization projects, as well as in a CA$100 million dispute against Hydro‑Québec regarding the construction of the Eastmain‑1 power station.

Marie‑Hélène holds an LL.B. from Université Laval (2004), an LL.M. from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2008), and a PhD in Law from Université Laval (2021), where her doctoral thesis analysed the civil law rules governing the execution of contracts of enterprise in major construction projects. She also serves as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Sherbrooke, with research interests in civil law, construction law and contract law theory.
