Emil Vidrascu

Emil Vidrascu is a Partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group of Dentons' Montréal office, focusing on commercial and construction litigation, competition law and aboriginal law. He represents clients before the courts and various arbitral panels.

In construction law, he has represented clients in major and complex claims involving construction projects such as hospitals, factories and dams, including advising Hydro-Québec on multiple disputes related to the Peribonka dam and the La Romaine hydroelectric complex. In commercial litigation, he handles disputes involving the interpretation of commercial agreements, competition law and shareholders' rights, including a CA$100 million action for a payments company and a CA$40 million action for Université de Montréal. He also advises on Indigenous law matters, representing Hydro-Québec in claims totalling approximately CA$2.5 billion brought by the Innu communities in relation to aboriginal title and rights.

Emil holds an LL.B from the University of Montréal (1994) and a degree from the Bucharest Polytechnic Institute (1990). He was admitted to the Québec Bar in 1995.

He is a professor at the École du Barreau since 2005 and is recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada (Aboriginal Law, Construction Law, Energy Regulatory Law, Corporate and Commercial Litigation), The Legal 500 Canada and Benchmark Litigation. He also contributed to the reform of the Romanian Civil Code as a member of the Canadian consultancy team (1999–2003).
