Claude Morency

Claude Morency is a Partner in Dentons' Litigation and Dispute Resolution group in Montréal, focusing on corporate, commercial and construction litigation.

He has extensive experience managing and conducting large-scale litigation before arbitral and judicial courts, with matters involving tens or hundreds of millions of dollars and complex technical evidence. In construction law, he has represented parties in disputes related to major infrastructure projects, including the CA$1.16 billion Contrecœur container terminal expansion for the Montréal Port Authority, the CA$600 million natural gas-fired power plant for Trans-Canada Energy, and the CA$1.1 billion Cartier Wind Energy project. He also advised the McGill University Health Centre in the first PPP litigation in Québec, involving claims of CA$330 million. In commercial matters, he works on shareholder disputes and contractual disputes, and has defended parties in public inquiry commissions and statutory criminal matters. He also represents the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in complex cases involving private and public international law, including state immunity.

Claude holds an LL.L. from the University of Ottawa (1990).

He served as managing partner of the Montréal office for 14 years (2007–2021) and is now a member of the Canada Region Board. He is recognized by The Legal 500 Canada, The Best Lawyers in Canada, The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and Benchmark Litigation in construction, commercial litigation and dispute resolution. He was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
