Paige Donnelly

Paige Donnelly is a Senior Associate in the Tax group at Dentons Canada LLP, based in Toronto. Her practice focuses on Tax Law, advising domestic and international clients on the income tax aspects of corporate mergers and acquisitions, business restructurings, corporate finance transactions and cross-border matters.

Her clients range from large multinational corporations to owner-managed businesses, and she brings to each engagement a practical, business-minded approach that prioritises actionable, commercially grounded advice.

Paige has developed particular expertise in executive and equity compensation, helping clients design and implement tax-efficient incentive arrangements that attract and retain key talent. She also advises on Canada's clean energy investment tax credits, guiding businesses through the evolving incentive framework as they pursue sustainable energy projects and other green initiatives.

Recognised by clients as a smart, capable and business-minded tax lawyer with excellent communication skills, Paige is equally valued for her outstanding client service and project leadership.

Prior to joining Dentons, Paige gained valuable experience working for Canada's largest independent financial services company in Toronto, where she developed a strong foundation in the financial markets and investment landscape. She has held the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation since 2014.

Her experience includes advising Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. and Lionsgate Studios Corp. in connection with Lionsgate's separation of its traditional studios business and the streaming and media business of Starz Entertainment by way of British Columbia plan of arrangement; acting as Canadian legal counsel to The Westaim Corporation in connection with the US$250 million strategic investment by Wembley Group Partners, LP; advising Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. on the acquisition of certain assets of Hasbro Inc. including eOne Entertainment through the acquisition of Entertainment One Ltd.; advising Sleeman Breweries Ltd. on its acquisition of Aware Beverages Inc. (d.b.a. SoCIAL LITE); advising Continental Battery Company on its acquisition of Great Northern Battery Systems Inc.; and advising Atura Power (a subsidiary of Ontario Power Generation Inc.) on the acquisition of a 1,858MW portfolio of combined-cycle natural gas-fired power plants in Ontario from affiliates of TC Energy for a purchase price of approximately $2.8 billion.

She holds a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School (2017), an MBA from the University of Toronto (2013) and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering, from Queen's University (2009). She was the recipient of the Osgoode Hall Dean's Gold Key Award (2017).

She is recognised by The Best Lawyers in Canada – Ones to Watch for Tax Law and by Chambers Canada for Tax. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association, and volunteers as a mentor with Law in Action Within Schools.
