Emma Irving

Emma Irving is co-leader of the national Class action group and a Partner in Dentons’ Litigation and Dispute Resolution group in Vancouver, specialising in Dispute Resolution. Her practice encompasses commercial litigation, contract and transactional disputes, administrative law, personal injury defence, class actions and product liability, with considerable experience in the transportation and mining sectors.

Emma has acted in cases involving derailments, maritime claims, joint venture agreements and mineral tenure claims, as well as regulatory matters before the British Columbia Trucking Commissioner and the British Columbia Gold Commissioner. Notable matters include representing a leading developer of augmented reality mobile games in proposed class proceedings alleging addictive game elements, successfully having the BC class action stayed in favour of arbitration, and acting as co-lead counsel to The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited in successfully opposing certification of a proposed class action related to privacy and video analytics technology. She has also represented a minor beneficiary in a complex estates case involving an estate in excess of CA$10 million.

Emma holds a J.D. and a B.A. from the University of British Columbia, and clerked for the British Columbia Supreme Court prior to joining Dentons. She is listed on Benchmark Litigation’s 40 & Under list of top litigators.
