James O'Sullivan

James O'Sullivan is a Partner and the department lead in the Corporate Securities group, based in the Calgary office, practicing in Corporate Law. His practice focuses on providing corporate, securities, and commercial advice to private and junior public issuers, as well as micro-cap, start-up, and growth companies active in the energy, mining, healthcare, consumer products, and technology markets. He also serves as Corporate Secretary for several Canadian public companies.

Mr. O'Sullivan has extensive experience in corporate financings for private and public companies and has managed numerous multi-step mergers and acquisitions, complex corporate reorganizations, and commercial transactions. He has been actively involved in the cannabis industry since 2013, advising on IPOs, acquisitions, licensing, regulatory matters, and capital-raising programs. Notable matters include advising FireFall Energy Inc. on the formation of VLNC Infrastructure Inc. and its acquisitions, and acting for Certus Oil & Gas Ltd. in its CA$100 million takeover by Pine Cliff Energy Ltd.

James holds an LLB from Western University (2006) and a B.Sc. in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary (2000). He has been recognized in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory in Corporate Mid-Market and in The Best Lawyers in Canada in Cannabis Law, Securities Law, and Mergers and Acquisitions Law.
