Jason Saltzman

Jason Saltzman is a Partner in the Dentons Canada Corporate group and the national Leader of the Firm's Mergers and Acquisitions group, specialising in Mergers and Acquisitions. With over 25 years of experience, he has deep expertise in cross-border M&A and corporate finance, including PIPE transactions across diverse industries such as life sciences, energy, cannabis and mining.

Jason has advised on numerous high-value transactions, including advising the Special Committee of Kneat on its CA$650 million acquisition by Thoma Bravo, advising Energy Fuels Inc. on its US$1.9 billion acquisition of VAC, and advising the Special Committee of Magnet Forensics Inc. on its CA$1.8 billion sale to Thoma Bravo. He also represented CanniMed Therapeutics in its defense of a hostile takeover by Aurora Cannabis, leading to a friendly CA$1.3 billion takeover, and advised Cynapsus Therapeutics Inc. on its CA$825 million acquisition by Sunovion Pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining Dentons, Jason was a partner at a leading Canadian law firm and practiced cross-border M&A and securities with the Toronto office of a leading New York law firm.

Jason holds an LL.B. from York University, Osgoode Hall Law School, and an MBA from York University's Schulich School of Business (1998).

He was named "Lawyer of the Year" by Best Lawyers for Venture Capital Law in Toronto (2023) and is recognised in The Best Lawyers in Canada across multiple categories including Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Securities Law and Venture Capital Law.
