Kurt Frederick

Kurt Frederick is a Senior Associate in Dentons' Commercial Real Estate group in Calgary. His practice focuses on Real Estate Law, including share-based and asset-based transactions, corporate finance, commercial leasing and development and divestitures.

Given his comprehensive environmental background, Kurt has also developed a niche practice in real estate-related environmental matters, including regulatory approvals for development, environmental site assessments, and compliance and due diligence reporting.

Kurt's diverse educational background and extensive professional experience as an environmental consultant have enabled him to deliver valuable problem-solving, drafting and negotiating skills at every stage of his clients' complex projects. His clients also turn to him for his strong work ethic, his attention to detail and his ability to grasp complex issues that result in the most cost-effective solutions and the best possible outcomes.

His recent experience includes advising Saturn Oil & Gas Inc. on the acquisition of upstream oil and gas assets in Saskatchewan representing approximately 4,000 boe/d of Viking light oil production and over 140 net sections of land.

He holds a JD from the University of Windsor, a Master of Renewable Resources in Land Reclamation and Remediation from the University of Alberta, a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Honours) from the University of Windsor, and completed the Canadian Securities Course at the Canadian Securities Institute. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Law Society of Alberta, and is recognised by The Best Lawyers in Canada – Ones to Watch for Real Estate Law.
