Michael Beard

Michael Beard is a Partner in the Corporate group in Dentons' Edmonton office, advising clients on a broad range of corporate commercial matters, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial agreements.

He assists clients with reorganizations, share subscriptions, and share and asset purchase transactions, including in the life sciences and technology sectors. Notable matters include advising Rexall Health on its CA$3 billion sale to McKesson Corporation, advising Sherritt International Corporation on the sale of its royalty portfolio and operating coal assets for total consideration of CA$946 million, advising Conuma Coal Resources Limited on a US$35 million acquisition of assets from Walter Energy Canada, and advising Tryten Technologies Inc. on its sale to Capsa. He also advises dental and medical professionals on the purchase and sale of practices.

Michael holds an LL.B. (with Distinction) and a B.Sc. in Biology (with Distinction) from the University of Alberta (2007, 2010).

He serves as Chair of the Board of the Action for Healthy Communities Society of Edmonton.
