Michael Henriques

Michael Henriques is a Partner and department head in the Toronto office of Dentons' Banking and Finance group. His practice focuses on Banking and Finance Law.

Based in Toronto, Michael possesses strong and established knowledge and experience on a wide range of financing and debt transactions. He counsels and guides foreign and domestic clients on financing matters with a particular emphasis on fund finance, loan syndications, cash flow and asset-based lending, acquisition financings, cross-border financings, project and real estate financings, mezzanine financings and inter-creditor arrangements.

Michael also advises clients in connection with corporate restructuring, private mergers and acquisitions and other corporate matters. He acts for a number of financial institutions, as well as other public and private entities in the financial services, resource, manufacturing, entertainment, energy and retail industries.

His experience includes acting as the agent on behalf of the syndicate of lenders on multiple syndicated financings of an asset manager and certain of its funds, advising the Agent on a CA$300 million syndicated credit facility in favour of one of Canada's largest wine producers and distributors, and advising the Lender on the financing of the redevelopment of a landmark hotel and conference centre in Victoria, British Columbia.

He also advised Mercuria Energy Group, Ltd. on its US$1.35 billion syndicated credit facility, a portion of which was used in connection with the acquisition of JPMorgan's global physical commodities trading business, and advised the Bank as administrative agent and lender in the US$150 million senior secured financing to Pivotal Payments.

He holds an LLB and a BA from the University of Western Ontario.
