Steven Nguyen

Steven Nguyen is a Partner in the Corporate group and the Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies team at Dentons, specialising in Corporate Law. He focuses on corporate and commercial law with extensive experience in the private equity and venture capital space, regularly acting as counsel on equity financings in Canada and internationally.

Steven represents companies and investors in cross‑border transactions involving multiple jurisdictions worldwide, and frequently advises international investment funds on fund formation, structuring and administration matters. He also advises clients on complex contractual issues, including joint ventures and partnership matters. Notable matters include advising an international venture capital fund on the formation and funding of its US$360 million technology fund, acting as lead investor counsel in a €15 million investment round in a Singapore‑based coffee chain, and advising an institutional client on a CA$200 million mutual fund investment. He has also been involved in negotiating and resolving longstanding contract issues in connection with a CA$1.5 billion P3 project.

Steven holds an LL.B. and Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Ottawa (2010), as well as a BSocSc in International Development and Globalization from the University of Ottawa. He is a member of the Québec Bar and is recognised in The Best Lawyers in Canada: Ones to Watch for Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law.
