Daniel Dickey

Daniel Dickey is a Senior Associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group at Dentons, based in Calgary. His practice focuses on Commercial Litigation, maintaining a broad practice that includes complex commercial civil litigation, regulatory matters, and business crimes and investigations.

He has several years' experience acting on commercial and general litigation matters, with a focus on the real estate, construction and energy sectors. He has appeared at all levels of the Alberta Courts and has acted as counsel in alternative dispute resolution processes, including arbitrations, judicially assisted dispute resolutions and private mediations.

Dan's practice also focuses on providing advice in connection with payments, securities, anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing regulatory and enforcement matters. He regularly supports clients operating in highly regulated environments by translating risk into practical compliance, governance and enforcement defence strategies. In particular, he is experienced in guiding clients through Canada's rapidly evolving regulatory landscape governing fintech companies, legacy institutions and technology-enabled businesses offering payments and other related financial services.

He also represents clients in the context of criminal investigations and prosecutions and has experience conducting cross-border internal investigations.

His experience includes advising in a six-month trial involving a $550 million dispute arising from a commercial lease, advising in an arbitral dispute relating to the transportation of crude oil by pipeline, and advising on an internal investigation and compliance matters relating to the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act (Canada).
