Kelly Osaka

Kelly Osaka is a Partner in the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution group and Privacy and Cybersecurity group, and co-lead of the Privacy Litigation subgroup, based in the Calgary office, practicing in Commercial Litigation. She assists clients across industries including energy, financial services, real estate, and technology, with expertise in complex commercial litigation, class action defence, securities litigation, shareholder disputes, plans of arrangement, ESG and greenwashing risks, and governance best practices.

She is also a trusted leader in privacy and cybersecurity, providing practical solutions for regulatory compliance, video surveillance management, privacy impact assessments, and breach response. As a breach coach, she advises national and international organizations on data breach response, regulatory reporting, and related litigation. Notable matters include advising Vermilion Energy on the CA$1.075 billion acquisition of Westbrick Energy via Plan of Arrangement, representing a minority shareholder in oppression and directors' liability claims resulting in damages exceeding CA$1 million plus full indemnity costs, and representing the claimant in a CA$500 million domestic arbitration regarding a cogeneration facility.

Kelly holds an LLB from Dalhousie University (2005) and a BA (Honours) from McGill University (2002).
