David R. Elliott

David R. Elliott is a Partner and Department Head of the Ottawa Litigation and Dispute Resolution group, specialising in Dispute Resolution. His practice encompasses a wide variety of business litigation disputes, with extensive experience in investor and shareholder disputes, product liability, professional negligence, environmental prosecutions and civil claims, public procurement, and intellectual property and confidential information matters.

David has appeared before all levels of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Federal Court of Canada, and has acted as lead trial and appellate counsel on numerous matters. He also has extensive experience in mediations and domestic and international arbitrations. Notable matters include advising on a judicial-review challenge to the CRTC's "base contribution" regime under the amended Broadcasting Act, which was named one of Lexpert's Top 10 Business Decisions of 2024/2025, and acting as lead counsel in an international arbitration involving product liability claims. He is a certified specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Ontario.

David holds an LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick (1997), an M.A. from Dalhousie University (1994), and a B.A. (Honours) from Wilfrid Laurier University (1991). He is a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa Law School, teaching the Trial Advocacy Course.
