Giancarlo Salvo

Giancarlo Salvo is a Partner in the Corporate group and Montréal leader of the Private Equity group, specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions. His practice focuses on M&A, securities law, venture capital, and private equity, with extensive experience acting as lead counsel on a significant number of VC financings in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. He also advises funds on portfolio investments, divestitures, and fund formations, and regularly advises TSX and TSX‑V listed companies on IPOs, financings, and corporate governance.

Giancarlo has advised on numerous significant transactions, including advising Investissement Québec and the Canada Development Investment Corporation on the CA$2.54 billion financing of Telesat LEO; advising White Star Capital and OMERS Ventures as co‑lead investors in the $55 million Series A financing of Wrk Technologies Inc.; advising White Star Capital on the formation of its $466 million third flagship venture capital technology fund; advising Boralex on its CA$172.5 million bought‑deal public offering; advising Knight Therapeutics on its US$30 million credit facility; and advising a leading provider of contract development and manufacturing services on its US$2.6 billion going‑private transaction. He also advised Northlane Capital Partners on its acquisition of Smart Wave Technologies Corp. and Perspecsys Inc. on its cross‑border acquisition by Blue Coat Systems.

He holds an LL.B from the Université de Montréal (2007), a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Dalhousie University (2002), and studied French and European Law at the Université Panthéon‑Assas (Paris II) and Game Theory at the London School of Economics. He was admitted to the Québec Bar in 2008.
