Kathy M. Briere, KC

Kathy M. Briere, KC is a Partner in Dentons' Litigation and Dispute Resolution group and serves as Co-Chair of the Plaintiff Personal Injury team in Edmonton. She is a King's Counsel and a certified mediator.

Her practice focuses primarily on personal injury law, ranging from minor injuries through to catastrophic injuries, including brain and spinal cord injuries, orthopaedic injuries, chronic pain, permanent disability and fatalities. She also has a strong product liability practice grounded in complex automotive litigation, with recent experience acting for multiple major automobile manufacturers. She has successfully represented clients in car accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle and pedestrian accidents, workplace accidents, and assaults. She has been involved in countless mediations and alternative dispute resolution processes, and completed mediation training at Harvard University in 2012.

Kathy holds an LL.B. from the University of Alberta (2000) and a B.A. from the University of Alberta (1997).

She is Treasurer of the Canadian Bar Association, Alberta Branch (and will serve as President in 2027‑28), serves on the Board of Directors for the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation Canada (DRIFCan), and provides legal counsel to Habitat for Humanity in the capital region and Northern Alberta. She is recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada for Personal Injury Litigation.
