Robert Gilroy

Robert Gilroy is a Senior Associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group at Dentons in Edmonton. He maintains a litigation and arbitration practice with a focus on large, complex infrastructure and construction disputes, acting for contractors, engineers, owners, and public utility companies, including on claims exceeding CA$350 million.

He has particular expertise in developing and defending delay and loss of productivity claims. Outside of construction, he maintains a varied litigation practice, including insurance defence, fraud, and general contractual matters. As a former commercial lines insurance underwriter, he also specializes in providing insurance coverage opinions.

He has represented clients before the Court of King's Bench of Alberta and the Court of Justice of Alberta, including numerous trials, before administrative bodies, and through various alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. He is recognized by The Legal 500 Canada and Chambers Canada for Construction.

He holds a JD with Distinction (2018) and a BComm in Accounting with Distinction (2013) from the University of Alberta. He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association, and volunteers with Pro Bono Law Alberta and the Edmonton Community Legal Centre.
