Matthias Heilke

Matthias Heilke is a Senior Associate in Dentons' Litigation and Dispute Resolution group in Montréal, specialising in Dispute Resolution. He has a broad range of experience in commercial and administrative litigation and arbitration, advocating for clients in high‑stakes disputes before the Canadian Transportation Agency, the Superior Court of Québec, and the Federal Court of Appeal.

Matthias has represented clients in complex matters including a shareholder dispute in a multi‑jurisdictional arbitration concerning more than US$200 million in assets, Via Rail Canada Inc. before the Federal Court and Superior Court of Québec, and Glencore Canada Corporation in an appeal concerning the tax treatment of CA$101 million in break fees. He has also advised clients on compliance with the Charter of the French Language, anti‑money laundering laws and interactions with FINTRAC.

Matthias holds an LL.B. and B.C.L. from McGill University (2015), where he earned Honourable Mention in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, and a B.A. (Hons) from McGill University (2012). Prior to joining Dentons, he practiced at a leading national law firm and a Montréal litigation boutique, and worked on access to justice and health rights initiatives in Uganda.
