David P. Little

David P. Little is the National Leader of Dentons Canada's Venture Technology and Emerging Growth Companies Group and a member of the Canada Region Board, specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions. He focuses on representing funds and emerging companies in venture capital financings, cross‑border transactions, buy‑outs, and M&A, and has been instrumental in building Dentons' venture technology practice both in Canada and globally.

David regularly acts as principal external counsel for many of Canada's leading venture capital investors in a broad range of financing transactions, including a number of the largest VC deals in Canada. He provides ongoing advice to knowledge‑based and other emerging companies, senior executives, boards of directors, and fund managers through all stages of the growth cycle, from start‑up through M&A and public financings. His expertise includes governance, fund formation, and equity compensation, with sector expertise in SaaS, telecommunications and radiocommunications (including satellites), AgTech, and technology‑enabled consumer‑focused companies. Notable matters include advising Ligado Networks LLC on US$3.85 billion in new capital raised for 5G telecommunications services, acting for LightSquared LP on a financing of up to CA$1.5 billion, advising Export Development Canada on its lead role in a $136 million investment in AddÉnergie Technologies Inc. (FLO), and advising VIQ Solutions Inc. on its US$18 million registered direct offering.

David holds an LL.B from the University of Ottawa (1991) and a B.A. (Hons) from Queen's University (1988). He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1993. He has previously been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Common Law, lecturing on securities law and venture capital.

He has been consistently recognised in The Best Lawyers in Canada in Corporate Law, Securities Law, Technology Law, Venture Capital Law, and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, and was named Lawyer of the Year for Corporate Law (2025), Securities Law (Ottawa, 2023, 2021, 2020, 2017), and Venture Capital Law (Ottawa, 2023).
