Jon (Jonathan) Ryder

Jon Ryder is a Partner and the department lead of Dentons' Commercial Real Estate and Development group in Calgary, focusing on municipal planning and development, residential and industrial development, land use, leasing, and commercial, industrial and office transactions.

He regularly appears before the Calgary Planning Commission, Calgary City Council and the Subdivision and Appeal Board on behalf of local and national developers of large residential, commercial and retail projects. Prior to joining Dentons, he served as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for one of Alberta's largest real estate developers, managing real estate transactions in excess of CA$500 million. He also acts as strategic advisor to several family-owned developers in Alberta, providing advice on acquisitions, joint venture and partnership structures, planning and leasing. Notable matters include advising Cove Communities on the purchase of a portfolio of 10 mobile home parks in Alberta and Saskatchewan valued in excess of CA$150 million, and advising Hines Group on the approval and development of 35‑storey and 42‑storey towers in Calgary's Beltline neighbourhood.

Jon holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Manitoba (2006) and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from McGill University (2002).

He is recognized by Chambers Canada for Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use in Alberta, and by The Best Lawyers in Canada and The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for Real Estate Law.
