Simon Gauthier

Simon Gauthier is a Partner and Co-Lead of the Corporate/Commercial group and Leader of the M&A practice group in the Montréal office, practicing in the firm's Mergers and Acquisitions practice. He advises clients in domestic and cross-border M&A, private equity, project financing and development, and complex real estate transactions across sectors including construction and civil engineering, technology, media and telecommunications, manufacturing, forestry, and agribusiness.

Mr. Gauthier has advised on numerous significant transactions, including advising Farnell-Thompson Applied Technologies on its sale to FLSchmidt, advising Transelec/Common on its sale to Vinci Energies, advising EACOM Timber Corporation on its sale to Interfor Corporation, advising EBOX on its sale to Bell Canada, advising Domtar on the CA$45 million sale of Gatineau hydro assets and the CA$1 billion Zibi development project, advising a major independent marketer on the acquisition of over 250 retail service stations across Canada, and advising a management buyout of Emka Technologies with multiple financial partners.

Simon holds an LLB from the Université de Montréal (2009). He has been recognized by The Legal 500 Canada in Corporate M&A, Best Lawyers in Canada in Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, and the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory in Corporate Commercial Law. He received the Lexpert Rising Stars Award: Leading Lawyers Under 40 in 2025.
